A media library with iOS, Android and PC support.
Songbird is an mp3 player (with support for other formats) which uses code from several different popular open source projects like Firefox and VLC Media Player. From the outsider, it looks much like an iTunes alternative while in reality it offers much more.
One of the unique things about Songbird is the fact that it is an open source project. This means anybody can develop on top of it.
The application is a complete music management solution which includes and integrated web browser which is useful when looking up information about the music you have in your library. Songbird has wide support for different plug-ins and since its open source, a growing list of in-built features.
From within the media library, you can easily access links to music-related information. It also includes access to Shoutcast radio broadcasts, the ability to add RSS/Podcast feeds, access to news radio and different online databases containing relevant metadata.
The layout of Songbird looks similar to iTunes and for anybody that's used iTunes, isn't too hard to get the feel of. The long list of features are accessible from the main title bar menu.
If you're looking for something more stable than iTunes without the added spyware, check this media player out.
